The ICAO EUR/NAT Office under the Environment task Force organized a highly informative webinar on the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Roadmaps. The event featured insightful presentations from Poland, Sweden, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom, each detailing the current status, challenges, and progress in their respective countries regarding SAF roadmap development or implementation.
The primary objective of the webinar was to disseminate information on the ICAO guidance document on SAF policy development. It aimed to establish a clear link between State Action Plans and SAF initiatives, encouraging States to incorporate their SAF policies and roadmaps into their State Action Plans.
Speakers shared valuable lessons learned and best practices, emphasizing the importance of flexibility, stakeholder engagement, and active listening in the roadmap development process. The key advice for States was to ensure their SAF roadmap is adaptable and inclusive of all relevant stakeholders.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of the ICAO EUR/NAT Office to support member States in advancing sustainable aviation practices and achieving global environmental goals.
