Course description:

This course aims to educate security personnel, and those responsible for the implementation of aviation security measures in order to enhance overall protection against acts of unlawful interference.


In order to receive a certificate of successful completion, participants will be required to pass an end of course exam based on Annex 17 - Aviation Security, the ICAO Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973 - Restricted), and materials presented during the course.

Target audience:

Participants should be:

  • New entrants and/or existing personnel at the operational level primarily responsible for the application of aviation security measures at airports; or
  • Personnel from other aviation-related entities engaged in aviation security support activities are encouraged to attend.

Course objectives:

The course aims to enable participants to:

  • Apply knowledge, skills and abilities desired for an aviation security officer; and
  • Understand the procedures and processes required when implementing preventive aviation security measures.

Entry requirements:

Participants should satisfy the following criteria: 

  • Should work for the authority responsible for aviation security, other regulatory authorities, airports, airlines, and/or other stakeholders that have an active role in training AVSEC personnel; and
  • Should have written and oral command of the language of instruction.
